Victor Pytko

More than a dozen new paintings by artist Victor Pytko are part of a series of exhibitions at Goldner Walsh that showcase regional artists. Pytko’s use of composition, color and occasional inclusion of found objects, newsprint, sand, and household materials gives new context to the media and extends the viewer’s interest beyond the subject matter. His landscapes work very well in the Goldner Walsh nursery setting and should delight both novice and experienced viewers and collectors alike.
Pytko, 62, exhibits widely around Michigan and in other states including Colorado, New York and Virginia. Working in both realistic and abstract styles, he has been commissioned for private and corporate settings including the Mass Transit Authority of Genesee County, Ernst & Young in Detroit and Tokai Rika in Nagoya, Japan.
A native of upstate New York, Pytko has been influenced by numerous artists including Grandma Moses who lived nearby, mentors Boris Putterman (Indiana University), Leslie Masters and Charles McGee (BBAC instructors) and famed artists Edward Hopper, Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning, Robert Rauschenberg and Milton Avery. The lifelong painter maintains studios at his home in Birmingham and at the Pioneer Building in Detroit.
