Ore Containers

Ore Inc. originated through a collaboration between a groups of artisans that specialize in the design and production of custom metal work, including furniture and architectural details. Our objective is to provide an original alternative to the standard planter options, by offering distinct designs in a redefined material.

The containers add interest and a sculptural quality to interior and exterior environments. Each container will continue to develop a unique patina, as a result of being left outside year round.

Motawi Tileworks (American Artist Series)

Goldner Walsh is excited to introduce our newest line of tile from Michigan brother and sister artists, Karim and Nawal Motawi. We’ve been collecting it for years for our own personal collections and now we are offering the extensive line to our customers.

In love with velvety matte glazes in rich colors and fascinated by the landscape and flower imagery of the arts and crafts period, these Ann Arbor-based artists have created tile with warm rustic charm that is impossible to achieve with mass production.

There are two distinct styles of tile: polychrome and relief. The polychrome tiles are made using several different glazes. Each glaze is hand applied between the raised lines of the design with a bulb syringe. The polychrome tiles come in specific colorways which vary from design to design. The relief tiles are essentially bas-relief sculptures which are dip-glazed in a single color. They are available in specifically chosen glazes designed to show the relief to best advantage.

Tiles are available in 7 different sizes ranging from 3” X 3” for $20.00 to 12” X 12” for $299.00. Most sizes can be framed in hand-made quartersawn oak.

Petrified Forest (American Artist Series)

Petrified Forest is located in rural Berks County, Pennsylvania, in a 1781 stone barn and grist mill. The surrounding 15 acres assures an ample supply of native leaves, including oak, maple, chestnut, sumac, wild grape vine, and sassafras. We have planted other trees, such as sawtooth oak, ginko, and Japanese maple, which gives each artist a large pallet of shapes and textures for their designs.

Each piece begins with a quiet walk in the woods, where Stephen Day selects the leaves that make each piece a unique work of art. Like snowflakes, no two leaves are exactly the same, and we think of them as “God’s fingerprints”.

Iguana Works Tiles from Sara Frank

Goldner Walsh is known for our dahlia collection and we can’t imagine a garden that doesn’t include this head-turning flower. There are so many to chose from and we really miss them all winter until our greenhouses are filled with Michigan’s most extensive collection in the spring.

We asked local artist, Sara Frank to grow a Dahlia Spartacus bush last summer and fall in love with its deep, dark beauty like we have. Inspired by its deep, dark beauty, she has created a limited edition tile of this dahlia that captures its essence all year long. Available at Goldner Walsh Nursery in two sizes for $28 and $75.

Also available a selection of other tile styles by Frank, various prices.
