2004 World Bromeliad Conference Sweepstakes Award Winner

Past President and current VP of the Southeast Michigan Bromeliad Society

Bromeliads are members of a great family numbering over 3000 species, the best known of which are the pineapple and Spanish moss.  All bromeliads are native to the tropical and subtropical Americas.

Bromeliads are the “New Cool” and truly remarkable houseplant ideally suited for indoor culture.  Their striking flowers and bold leaves compliment today’s traditional, modern and urban edge style.

Following the slide presentation, you will be able to meet and greet members of the Southeast Michigan Bromeliad Society and admire a private exhibition of award winning bromeliads.

We will have hundreds of exotic bromeliads available for purchase.

Woodland Wonders from the Wild with Barry Glick

Saturday, April 3, 2010
11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Fee: $15.00
Reservation Required: 248-332-6430

Join native plant expert Barry Glick for a fascinating and lively glimpse into the wonderful world of woodland wildflowers.

Growing up in Philadelphia in the 1960s, a Mecca of horticulture, Barry would regularly hitchhike to Longwood Gardens. In 1972 he realized there was just not enough room for him and his plants in the big city environment, so he bought 60 acres on a mountaintop in Greenbrier County, West Virginia where he gave birth to Sunshine Farm & Gardens. Today, Barry is a nationally recognized source for rare and exceptional plants with a focus on hellebores.

We will have a great selection of wildflowers available for sale!
